This is one of those stories, that pushes the horror boundary further. It introduces the characters, lets you know them and empathize with them pretty well given it's limited narrative toolset. Then it makes everyone hurt brutally. The triviality of this story, it's ordinariness in terms of human psyche and relationships is what crushes all your hopes for the happy ending.
A simple human being, with their fears, aspirations and delusions is enough to make our blood run cold.
No need for alien life forms or paranormality.

It's soul crushing, it's violently down-to-earth. I like it but in a painful kind of way, like an abusive partner or smoking cigarettes. It's so cool in so many ways, but it's essence is so vividly dark it'll break your heart.
If you're a masochist you will dig this game.
