Knowledge is power, over the years I get asked about my TF2 Demoman playstyle, so here's some fine print if you cared enough to scroll that far. I'm just a washed up TF2 vet who has become proficient at making people mad on a crappy map with a niche playstyle.

I use the Loose Cannon because it is infamous for stun properties that not even airblast compares to. It's jank and weird to play against. I like abusing that, especially when you can use that jank to create interesting combos to kill your enemies and throw off their aim. Decent example is timing a donk up close, burst them for 131 damage, then charge at them while they are still being knocked back. No one likes playing against this but it's fun for me to master.

Incredibly underrated sound mod to train you how to time the fuse. 4 beeps will play while priming the cannon, which allows your brain to easily correlate this to when it will explode after firing. Instead of trying to count out a number that is less than 1 second and aim at the dude trying to kill you; you can just listen for sound queues and focus on aiming. Letting go at 4 beeps will cause the ball the safely explode right in front of you, for example. You can use that same timing to blindly donk people as you go around a corner, but there's a script that makes that even easier:


Loose Cannon cancel script

If the fire button is held down then pressing Q switches to previous weapon and back to the cannon automatically. Since you do not have to let go of primary fire to do this it can be used to animation cancel a cannonball and immediately start cooking another one. Good thing to do when going around corners, enemies don't hear the charge sound so they have no warning until you actually fire.

in demoman.cfg (for my specific binds)

Note that the swords still slow your swap speed, this script was concieved before Valve did that so this isn't as effective if you run something like the Eyelander. I don't do that anymore. I was a pretty nasty Claidheamh Mòr demo back in the day, it's still the best of the swords, but for a mobility and combo based play style like mine it's not viable anymore with that switch speed IMO. Running the Eyelander makes you vulnerable to being 1-shot by uncharged quickscopes. Good Snipers won't let you live long enough to get the heads to offset this, that extra 25 hp is needed against them so they need to take time to charge shots.

I've known how to trimp since before it was even more common knowledge, I was also one of the first to abuse controllers before we even had the Tide Turner for turning control (okay that was Lei Lei, really), so my knowledge and reflexes date back to what seems to be ancient history and I don't think about it anymore. If you are familiar with surf maps you have a decent idea already. Charge against a slope and rapidly gain speed. Charging at certain angles in the air can make you go faster. This appears to be people's go to tutorial video that has more patience than I do to explain this.

Did you play comp? Were you actually somebody?
No. I'm not sure who spreads that rumor but I don't play competitively at all. I've already committed heresy multiple times over by playing 2fort,100 player servers most of the time and also main hybridknight. Thousands of hours of anything will turn you into a freak - I ain't cut out for anything organized though.

Did you buy the pan?
Yup, well before it reached the price it seems to be at now. I would never have bought it for the price it is now, so.. profit I guess? Probably won't sell it anyway, plus it's a warm fuzzy feeling when I let F2P's hold it.

What are you in real life?
Certainly nothing like the persona I portray online. But I do have a fondness for that Bruce Willis super hero movie no one seems to remember.

I recognize you from TF2 but don't remember where

Kind of likely since I've been around forever and have kept the same name. I played random servers for a couple years but most of my time in TF2 started by playing on a specific server that ran 2fort_sunrise. It was owned by the =UO= clan which later turned into FC...they went further back than TF2 but eventually moved on to Battlefield I believe. Very chill people, also kept order in the server very well while also having fun. I run into at least a couple of them sometimes and they kick my ass still like they used to, except I survive slightly longer now.

I also played a lot of a certain map called achievement_turbo...just an interesting place and met many cool people that I haven't seen in forever since. I miss joining spectate together each night to farm items while we sleep.

Then of course WDZ's 2fort Night... or the rough riders. None of them liked my Beggar's Bazooka, and then when the Loose Cannon came I'm sure they loved me even more ;) Few of them play the game to this day. I just wish someone ran that map still.

Nowadays I just go to whatever 2fort server has the least plugins - or shounics 100 player server. Uncletopia and Lazypurple's sometimes. Open to more variety but I avoid casual mode at all times.
