I went into this game somewhat hyped because of positive reviews and the good music, so consider this review slightly prejudiced.

Overall I found the game to be fairly disappointing (at the time of writing this review).

Starting with the good
The story overall was pretty great. Being a Marvel fan and having seen the movies, I was pleasantly surprised with how this story evolved and unpacked. The constant jokes, Drax taking everything too literal, the story and characters really felt like genuine Guardians of the Galaxy.
The visuals are nice as well, great graphics, cool skins and a setting fitting for the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The bad
This game is riddled with bugs. Although this game wasn't necessarily an immersive experience for me (like RDR2), I can see how some of the bugs could ruin someone else's immersion. Besides immersion-breaking, what really bothered me most is the fact that the game fairly often just didn't work. From enemies getting stuck where I couldn't reach them to being stuck in a cutscene-like mode where I'm getting shot at, unable to move to areas being seemingly unreachable due to a bug, only to find another bug to get around it. I feel like this game is more, or almost at least as buggy as Cyberpunk on release, but I haven't read any negative feedback on the bugs in here.

The combat isn't all that great either. Most of the times the combat felt kind of awkward. Running and dashing around the battlefield blasting things with my pistols, although aesthetically pleasing, didn't feel like much use. Smaller enemies get taken out by abilities instantly, and bosses don't pose much of a threat either, while the mediocre enemies (if you've played, you'll probably know which ones I mean) take ages to get taken out. Every reasonably memorable combat encounter ended in one (or more) of those enemies being left, and ready to take on my endless spam of tickling and peas (aka abilities and bullets, or whatever those pistols shoot).

The ugly
The music. The music in this game is great, I mean these are some top tier songs, but they're usually so misplaced. It feels like they took the Guardians of the Galaxy theme on audio and just kind of forced it into the game. I feel like the music never added value to any cutscene or gameplay element (except for chilling on the ship).

Going for all achievements also isn't that straightforward. Throughout the game you'll notice some stuff laying around, and if you're like me, you'll tell yourself to look out for these because there has to be an achievement for them. But no worries of course, you can always go back to the chapter play menu and replay the chapters where you missed stuff, right? Not quite. Not sure if it's a bug or intended behavior, but gathering collectibles during chapter replays doesn't count towards the achievements. To get the achievement, you'll likely have to play through the story again (or NG+) with a guide open (or some very sharp eyes).
