Marvel Puzzle Quest is, at the core, a pretty fun experience. There are quite a few characters to aquire for your team (a number which continues to grow as the developers add more characters to the game) and they generally come with unique play mechanics that make certain combinations more effective than others.

Characters aside, however, this game falls off the bus very quickly. The game is inaccurately marketed as free to play when, in fact, the only players who will realisitcally be competitive in tournaments or see the end of the single player campaign are the ones who have shelled out anywhere between 50-100 dollars. If you hope to max out your heroes and keep up with the ever growing roster be prepared to spend even more money (100 dollars is not nearly enough to max out a decent character's level).

Unfortunately this is not a game I would ever recommend to any sane person. The costs are just too high and the returns too low. When, if ever, the pay to win mechanic is removed this could easily be one of the better puzzle rpgs. Until then stay far away. Marvel Puzzle Quest is a huge disappointment.

Train Simulator is representative of a franchise that seeks to offer a semi-realistic representation of what it would be like if you were a conductor. The thing is, there isn't really a game here. There is very little to keep you interested for more than a few minutes unless you're playing the game ironically for some sort of media-review or livestream event.

There is very little to guide you ingame as to what you're supposed to do and simply getting a game going in career mode is relatively unintuitive. The game tries to push paid DLC at you at every turn (charging extraordinary amounts of cash for things that should have been in the game from the get-go) often times disrupting the obvious methods by which you actually initiate a game session.

If you can get this for really cheap (we're talking under 10 dollars) it might be worth checking out purely for the irony (and if you're planning on playing it ironically to an audience that values your suffering at the helm of ridiculous/broken games).

Fable 3 is a strange sort of game. Playing Fable 3 is like eating your second favorite type of cake. Sure it isn't your favorite, but it is still good in its own way. If you can accept the fact that Fable 3 isn't the same game as Fable 1 you might be pleasently surprised by what you get. The narrative is fun and inviting, the characters are animated, the story is very reminiscient of something you'd read as a child (I mean this in a good way), and the music+graphics pull you into a truly unique fantasy world.

It might not be the best game out there, but each game in the Fable series manages to capture something special in the art of storytelling. If you can suspend being critical of its obvious shortcomings and let yourself travel to the world of Albion you'll be surprised at how easy it is to enjoy the third major title in the Fable series.

After playing this for a solid 8 hours (Once I booted it up I literally could not stop playing) I've come to the conclusion that this is one of the, if not THE, best games of 2013. Rogue Legacy is hard but forgiving. Action-packed and humorous. Also, the controls are perfect (playing with the 360 controller) and the art direction is inspired. This game is what classic gamers have been waiting for for a long time, but stands strong as something that really feels modern.

As a representation of one of the most iconic and memorable arcade games Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara is exactly what you'd hope to find. Both arcade games packaged in one bundle, unlockables, online connectivity and leaderboards, and full controller support with the xbox 360 controller. This is a fantastic set of games and delivers flawlessly a very authentic experience.

Torchlight 2 is everything the gaming community hoped they would have gotten out of Diablo 3. You've got great loot, fantastic music, fun visuals, and an overall story progression that follows the classic ARPG model set in place by Diablo 2. The features that set Torchlight 2 apart from other ARPGs (the pet mechanic, the freeform skill tree progression etc.) are what make it unique and appealing to fans of the genre. If you see Torchlight 2 on sale pick it up. It is one of those games you don't want to miss out on.

Little Inferno is one of those niche games that doesn't properly fit into any one category. You can't fail, and it can be played totally at your own pace. The art direction, musical score, and contemporarily misanthropic view of the game offer users a truly unique experience. This is a game everyone should try at least once.

This is easily one of the best tower defense games I've played. The combination of tower defense and RPG is brilliantly done and should stand as the model for future games in the genre.

Terraria is great. You build stuff. You kill stuff. You loot stuff. You mine stuff. People who dig on 2D mining games will love Terraria.
