A pretty unique concept that forces you to think a little differently than in most stealth games. You need to use echolocation to find your way through a pitch black cave system, but anything that you hear, lurking enemies will hear as well. Gameplay is tense, levels are well designed, and the soundscape is very atmospheric to make up for the minimalist visuals.

Definitely recommend it for such a low price, though I would like to point out that the game does not have 80 levels. It has 40 levels and then once you complete those you unlock a hard mode where you can play through all the levels again. I had my fun with the game but it doesn't feel like it's worth it to play through the whole thing a second time with slightly more difficult enemies. (Maybe if you unlocked some lore or something at least, but there's no real story other than you're in a place where you can't see and there are things that want to kill you.)

Oakwood is a fun concept, but the execution lacks polish. It is poorly optimised, (heavy input delay no matter what settings I tinkered with,) and in need of some serious playtesting. The game constantly feels like you have to guess what it wants you to do, and sometimes it just gives up completely and outright tells you in a text message what very specific action you're supposed to take in a situation. The gameplay also sets up rules and then breaks them. Doors are a particularly egregious instance of both. Sometimes you can close them, sometimes you can't, sometimes dinos can break through them, sometimes they can't, they're the same type of doors, but how they work depends entirely on what set of scripted events you're supposed to be following at any given time. Enemy AI also behaves completely differently depending on the situation, so you feel less like you're learning to outwit them and more like you're just doing trial-and-error until you figure out what you're meant to do. The game is very linear too, but not good at directing you where to go.
An example: At one point a raptor jumped out RIGHT in front of me, so instinctively I ran in the other direction, but that was blocked off by shin-high debris that the protagonist was simply unable to step over, so I died. When I reloaded I tried running for the door next to the dinosaur, but it killed me. On my third attempt I discovered that where I was apparently supposed to go was a hallway around the corner to the right, which was completely blocked off from view by some big metal thing jutting out of the wall. Not exactly intuitive.

Also, the lean feature is completely useless. It doesn't actually tilt your POV to the side to peek around corners, it just slightly rotates your view while remaining centered. What is the point?

On the plus side, the models look good, and once you get inside the campground it gets pretty atmospheric. There are some genuinely tense moments that actually work. The music is good as well, even though it didn't loop seamlessly on some occasions. The story also seemed interesting from the bit of it I got to experience, but the notes you find scattered around are mostly either irrelevant information, or the same few plot points repeated over and over again without any additional exposition added. A little more brevity would be nice, but it's not a big deal.

This seems to be the developers' first official title, so I won't refund it, because there's potential here, and I want to see what they do in the future. Oakwood is definitely a few steps above the average unity horror game schlock, and it's clear that actual effort and passion was put into this project. However in its current state I cannot recommend it.

The graphics and models designs are beautiful, but the actual gameplay needs polish.

Maps are claustrophobically tiny, controls are clunky and unresponsive, and there is seemingly no option to practise maneuvering against bots despite bots being present in the tutorial.

It felt less like I was soaring through the skies on my mighty dragon mount and more like I was jockeying a drunk seagull that had somehow gotten inside a zoo enclosure.

Early Access Review
For an early access title it seems to have a lot of potential! They really need to add singleplayer and modding support though, and some of the English translations sound a little weird.

Very addicting, but the AI is pretty bad sometimes, and the game just feels overall kind of janky and unfinished
Worth it for the cheap price though, especially if it's on sale

the OG amogus
Unfortunate Spacemen is slightly more complex than most social deduction games, but there's a lot more to do once you get the hang of it

Crashes constantly, basically unplayable. My setup should be able to handle it fine, runs smoothly otherwise.
