Finally I can provide a review I can stand behind.
I've been a fan and regular player of Helldivers 2. We've been through quite a lot as fans of this game. A questionable launch followed by months of nerfs that got so bad that most weapons were totally useless for even casual game play. Finally the game is how it was supposed to be: chaotic fun. This game is like watching a 90's action movie. Almost ever round you will end up performing some crazy feat and you wish you had recorded.

Thank You AH for continuing to improve this game!

PRE-BUFFDIVERS UPDATE:
After quite a lot of game play and being nearly fully unlocked, My views have changed. For one, the servers have been running quite well since release. While there have been a lot of bug fixes along the way, there have also been a lot more bugs.

My main complaint about the game is the power creep. Player weapons and stratagems are being nerfed in almost every patch so that the best weapons are as useless as the weapons no one uses. On the other side, enemies are constantly getting buffs so that the weaker enemies are as dangerous as the stronger ones. The end goal is weapons that shoot wads of toilet paper at enemies built of reinforced concrete and metal with weapons that will one-shot you. This means that you will be regularly mag-dumping onto single enemies when if they land more than one hit, you are instantly killed.

While the game is still fun, it feel more and more like a grind. I'm not talking about the grind for research, I mean every dive you are constantly working to get every damn kill as very few enemies don't require a boatload of weapons to handle.

My advice is to make all weapons and stratagems useful by buffing them instead of nerfing them. Also, give us tools we can actually use to counter threats. Even the most powerful weapons won't take down a large enemy in one hit consistently. This sounds fine until you realize there could be multiple big enemies and you only have one or two shots every few minutes with a coin flip chance of it hitting.

Overall, I do enjoy the game, but it needs to be balance for fun, not torture.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
The only things slowing than this games leveling system are the servers running this game. This game is basically unplayable on weekend as the servers are always full. When you can get into the servers, you level super slow... if your level at all given all the glitches. They are trying to improve the servers and offer perks, but the issues continue. I waited a week to buy this game as it had a lot of issue at launch. The week did very little. When I pay full price for a game, I expect it to at least be playable. Waiting 4 hours in the hope of logging into the servers is not "playable". If the servers actually worked and the game didn't bug out causing a regular loss of rewards, it would be worth it. But why should anyone fork over full price for a game that doesn't even work?

I got this game for free on another platform. I ended up purchasing this game on steam to support the developer and play in on steam. This is a very simple game that I find to be very fun. Online play is questionable at time, but ti's a fun and, in my opinion, relaxing game. Controller is highly recomended.

VRChat is a buggy mess of a game with a dedicated community around it. If you are playing in VR, expect major frame rate issues unless you have a top-of-the-line PC.

When you get past the buggy mess, you find the community. The community is wild and huge. If you are an adult, I would recommend finding other adults and mostly avoiding pubic worlds. The number of literal children playing this game is problematic. Once you find a community you like, it's pretty fun.

I don't think it would be fare to not at least bring up the dark sides of VRC. This is a game used by many people as a way of escapism. Add in the privacy of doing this in your own home, and you can see the issues. Alcohol abuse and drug abuse is a noticeable problem.

My recommendation is to understand what VRC is and is not and make an adult choice from there. This game can open up a whole new way to socialize, but it can also drag you in.

EDIT: Fixed grammar and flow.
Also, if you have a beefy new system, VRC becomes much more immersive.

This is the best starter VR game on the market. It's been out since day one and is the best game for getting an intro to VR. Do I put hours and hours into this game? No. Has this game provided myself and my friends with an endless amount of fun? Absolutely.

UPDATE: After announcing for over a year that they would be doing a big release of the finished version of the game, they are now saying that they are never did any additional work on this game and it will be officially removed from the Steam Store. THIS GAME IS A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SCAM. The company behind this game, Systemic Reaction, is nothing but a bunch of scammer who put out a half-finished game with the promise of updates and then rug pulled.

Original Review (with minor grammar fixes):

I've put in over 30 hours spread throughout single play and 3-player team play. The game play for the first 10-20 hours is honestly pretty fun. You learn the map and start grinding out materials for upgrades. I enjoyed it a lot. But the deeper you get, the smaller and looser the game becomes.

The map is an issue. I don't have a problem with having a single large map. My problem is how linear the map actually is. You have to follow very specific routes to get around the map and they are not documented anywhere. Think you can jump over a small rock? Not unless the game wants you to. Want to take a short cut? Not unless it was designed that way. This means you have one way in and out of most areas. Also, the "points of interest" don't change or move. Once you know how to play, you will basically farm the same one or two areas for consistency.

This game is a buggy mess. My crew has logged countless hours of game play because a crash will undo all your mission progress. While you may get materials, you loss really complicated progress like killing a rare dino with a crit shot X times. This resulting in having to re-run these tasks over and over because of the crashing issue.

This is a "Living Game" that is dead. Based on how the whole world handles mission and such, the difficulty changes in different areas. While this doesn't really change much, it's noticeable that if you farm an area for resources but don't finish missions, the area will get worse. In a perfect work, other people would be cleaning these areas but this game has less then 50 active players.

I would recommend the team really look into fixing the plethora of bugs and issues with this game. Stop advertising when this game will be released, that's nothing but a scam at this point. Fix your buggy map. Fix the countless crashing issues that happen over and over again. After that, you should probably balance your characters and weapons, because there is no balance at all. There are builds that are better then everyone else by a mile.

Once the game get some solid fixes and work, I would consider running this game again. Until then, I'll get PTSD every time I see the icon because of all the crashing issues that resulting in running the same damn mission over and over and over and over until we all gave up.

This game is reviewed everywhere as some amazing and fresh take on Local Multiplayer. It is not. The controls are not quarky, they are unusable. I cannot enjoy a game in which I don't even know what's happening. The graphics are another issue. I understand the game isn't finished, but having levels in which you can't see your player because it's blocked is just bad. All the levels I tried looked like they were thrown together over night. Lets also bring up the stupidest thing I've ever seen in a game: The start button doesn't pause, it exits out to the main menu.

My friends who tried to play this with me thought it was a biggest waste of money they have ever seen, so I requested a refund. Please do not support unfinished and unplayable games.
