A couple of puzzles had some pretty silly moon logic or just required picking up an item that was almost impossible to see without pixel hunting, but overall it's a solid point and click adventure game with a pretty interesting and engaging story. I actually read every single bit of the emails and other logs without ever losing interest which is not common for me.

Not worth your time. The money you'll make getting a few cents for some bananas won't be worth the time spent even just installing the game and going through the marketplace. Or even the power costs to keep your PC active.

Buying bananas in the hopes to sell them for more later is also a for sure losing game.

But I guess if you want a really stupid looking banana on your steam profile there are worse ways to blow some pocket change. But then you don't even have to install the game to do that.

It's a wonderful scheme for the devs to get rich though from their cut of all the marketplace transactions.

If you enjoy PvE co-op and shooters at all this game is 100% worth a try.

The gameplay loop of exterminating legions of bugs and robots never gets old. On paper it seems like there isn't a ton of variety, but every match really does feel different because there is always variation in the enemy waves, objectives on the map, player loadouts, etc... The game is constantly spitting out moments where you go "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I can't believe that just happened"

The game does have premium currency (super credits) you can use to buy battlepasses (warbonds) and cosmetics, and the warbonds do include unique guns and equipment that are pretty powerful. But I don't consider this egregious because it is a PvE game launching at a budget price point and you can get super credits through normal gameplay without paying, so while you probably won't get every warbond for free without a lot of grinding, you can at least get the 1 or 2 that look most appealing to you.

I'm having a ton of fun with this game, so I'm giving it a recommendation, but it's probably the most on the fence recommendation I could possibly give.

The core gameplay loop is super fun. I love the mix of ranged and melee combat, it really gives the game a unique feeling compared to L4D or Vermintide which are mostly ranged and mostly melee focused respectively. The enemy variety is great and the fact that even mook level bad guys can have ranged weapons really requires you to think first before just running head first into an encounter.

A lot of other reviews are complaining about bugs and crashes. But the game has always run buttery smooth for me.

Others have complained that they were lead to believe the game would have more features at launch like a proper weapon crafting system. But I never personally read anything promising in-depth crafting so I'm not disappointed by it's absence.

So I recommend the game but with two big caveats. If you just want to jump right in and have a lot of fun slaughtering hordes of pox walkers, have at it. But if you hate the idea of not being able to customize your guns until a patch comes along, then put it on your wishlist and wait for that patch. And also make sure you check if it runs well on your system before your refund window expires.

Just FYI, in its current state the game is essentially a beta/demo that lasts about 45 minutes. The full game will release as Bright Memory: Infinite and there is a trailer around for it already but at the time of writing this, you won't be able to play what you see in the infinite trailer.

The one shame about this game is just that 45 minutes is only just enough time to really start getting into the combat system. It clearly pulls a lot of inspiration from other games and somehow puts them together into a beautiful first person action combat game.

Imagine you're the schoolgirl version of Raiden from Metal Gear Rising (or Dante, or any platinum games protag), but you can actually see in first person and you've got the arsenal of a Crysis soldier and you're running through a mysterious island from Tomb Raider that has a little bit of a smattering of Dark Souls somehow thrown in there.

Love the sheer variety available between all the different factions, not only with lords and units but with faction specific mechanics. I have played most of the total war series and this is by far my favorite.

The diplomacy mechanics aren't the best in the series, but I'd say every other aspect, especially the battles, are.

Early Access Review
A solid recreation of the original Half Life experience. The earlier sections of the game have a lot of nice little improvements other than just graphical that make things more immersive and smooth out some of the rougher parts. And Xen has been completely remade into a brand new campaign. It's insane how much detail they've put into it, a huge improvement over the original except for maybe a couple moments where the puzzles get a little repetitive.

A fun little metroidvania style game. Short but sweet. It has the semi-maze like level design and backtracking after you get keys and new methods to access previous areas that the genre is known for and I'm not a huge fan of that but just pulling up a map online helps out with that part.

Art style goes a long way to give it some charm and the combat is pretty enjoyable for the length that the game takes to complete.

The first nearly endless gameplay length VR experience I've been able to get my hands on. And it does not disappoint. The game is just so much more immerssive when played through VR.

Compared to when I played the pancake version of the game I found myself actually listening to the NPC dialog and paying attention to their stories. I even started building comfortably spaced out living quarters in my settlements so they'd be cozy.

Combat has also become a lot more immerssive. Using cover feels as natural as in made for VR games and the enemies feel fresh and more interesting from the new persepctive. Bloodbugs and radroaches are huge and can really creep you out and get the jump on you. Fighting large groups of ghouls is quite hectic. And deathclaws are appropriately intimidating.

Performance-wise the game is a bit demanding, but after they patched the resolution problem I've got it working pretty well on a GTX 1070 rig although there are definitely fidelity sacrifices. If you are nervous about how it will run on your system I would wait a week or so for it to get more patches and for you to be able to compare to what results other players have been able to get with tweaking.

Oh, and most mods work too. So yes you can grab your lightsaber, download some crazy new armor, and add an expansions worth of new quests, characters, and locations.

The only major downsides stem from the limitations of the game simply not being designed for VR from the ground up. For example you can stick your hand inside of a locked container and grab the item on the other side without picking the lock. And instead of opening a cabinet and physically reaching in to grab the contents you just press a button to search it and open an inventory interface like in the original game.

I think the downsides are more than made up for though by the sheer amount and quality of the games content. And I think that the VR perspective changes the gameplay and immerssion enough that even people who have put many hours in the original game can still get lost in this version all over again.
