Intentionally confusing purchase model. Had my fun with Hitman 2 & bought the DLCs for it back in the day - some of my progress can't even be carried over into this one and I don't own those DLCs in Hitman 3 after "only" buying the WOA edition.

Progress carryover requires you to go on IOI's website and go through a weirdly hostile process. It's stressed multiple times that you can only carry over each account's progress ONCE. Why?

Overhyped and overpriced. Has some good stuff (because it's still Elden Ring gameplay at its core) but it feels unfinished, like they thought "they'll buy it anyway, why bother". Environments are pretty but empty, dungeons mostly boring. Not worth the full asking price.

I never quite got the hang of Reus 1, every time I played it felt like I hit a wall at some point - tribes would go to war and destroy my plans for the planet or I just couldn't progress any further because my planning wasn't perfect.

None of this is present in Reus 2. It's a unique blend of puzzle and strategy that I can't really compare to anything other than the first game. If you liked the first one but felt like it was missing something, or just too hard, try this one. This is an improvement over Reus 1 in every single way.

I have mixed feelings about this game. At first it's pretty fun - the gameplay is like a mix of classic Doom and Doom 2016. In fact, most weapons, enemies and environments feel a bit too familiar if you've played Doom 2016.

Unfortunately the game quickly becomes bland, the levels just blend together too much, there are some exceptions but overall it feels like playing the same level over and over. This is somewhat mitigated by finding new upgrades like a double jump or dash, but it takes way too long to get them - when I finished the game I didn't have all of them even though I wasn't exactly ignoring secrets/collectibles. Weapons are cool but the novelty quickly wears off, some of them become heavily obsolete midway through the game.

The big deal breaker here is that you respawn every time you die. The only time you ever have to restart/load a map is if you die without activating any checkpoints (so basically just the first 2-3 minutes of a level). It didn't impact my enjoyment that much, but I definitely would have preferred an old school quicksave/quickload system. You also can't save your progress mid-level, so sometimes I felt like I was forcing myself to finish the map just so I wouldn't have to replay 75% of it if I quit out.

Prodeus is quite short too, I finished it in about 7 hours on the 2nd hardest difficulty. I think I would be a lot more harsh towards the game if I bought it for the full asking price of ~$30. With how little challenge the game offers and with how quickly it gets stale, I don't feel like it's worth that much when you compare it to other recent boomer shooters.

Amazing game. Loved everything about it from the visuals and sound design to the gameplay, weapons and story. Not sure how it is as a remake of the original (I've never played it), but as a standalone title it's incredible.

My only complaints are:
- the optimization (area load stutter, can be annoying at times but the intensity apparently varies from person to person), most of the time it runs fine for me so it wasn't a dealbreaker
- had to restart the game/reload my save sometimes when using workbenches, elevators or other screens because controls would just stop responding, only happened 3-4 times and I might have tabbed out of the game too much

Huge disappointment and probably the worst mainline RE game. The story is completely ridiculous (not in a good way like in previous RE titles). If you're wondering how they explain all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ supernatural elements, they don't, it's just an afterthought note or two at the end of the game, which doesn't really give much context to all the monsters anyway. Similarly to RE7, half the game consists of cutscenes, but when you finally get to play, it's mostly a walking simulator with lackluster combat mechanics and puzzles.

RE8 is only good for about 2 hours around the middle of the game, because you actually get to run around the village and use your key items to get some loot. Utilizing the merchant/selling treasure is definitely this game's strongest point. Unfortunately this doesn't last long and soon you're thrown into another snoozefest area, after which the game basically ends with more cutscenes, a pointless shooting gallery section, even more cutscenes, and finally a chore of a final boss fight.

The mercenaries mode is lackluster as well compared to the one in RE5, 6 and RE4 remake. The only challenge here is finding all the enemies to get all kills on any given map, because they don't seek you out for some reason.


In my opinion it's just not a good Resident Evil game. If you're not a fan of the series and bought it on sale it's probably fine, but I can't say I enjoyed most of my time with it. I gotta say that the graphics were really impressive, for all its faults the game is visually stunning.

Same length as RE3 remake but it's 4x less expensive and better in nearly every aspect
