If you're looking for a good rhythm game play Patapon instead.

In its current state its not worth playing, even for free. Since the latest update the game has been crashing randomly about 30 minutes into games.

Happens if its the 1st game of the day, or if its the 3rd. Nothing specific leading up to each crash. Not just on my end, I will be in a game with a friend and we will both crash at the same time.

Not worth the time, wait for an update before playing for now.

It's not often that I leave a review on a game, it is usually only when it does something really well, or really poorly. I am sure you can guess which one here.

Doom Eternal was a nice break from playing so many half finished games out today. Not much to say other than how smooth and bug free the experience was.

That being said, if you haven't got it yet but you know you like the series, go for the year one pass as Ancient Gods 1/2 add some fun mechanics and a higher skill ceiling from the base game.

The games current state reeks of a thrown together mess. You'll find bugs in the lobby, the store, the character modification, the matches, and even the loading screen. Some bugs are just annoyances like not being able to buy weapons until you back out of the store and go back in or your cursor not showing up until you restart your game. Then you get the bugs that can ruin your whole match like constant rubber banding which whips you back in time by 5 seconds or explosions killing players through solid terrain.

The game is a great concept but is being held back by lack of good updates and a community who will defend the game no matter what problems it has. Add it to your wish list and wait until steam notifies you of a major update, until then its a hard pass.

This game could be so much fun, but out of all the games I played, this one has the most incompetent developers.

I could deal with the imbalances, I could deal with the enormous necessary grind for new players, I could deal with most of the bugs, I could deal with the long queue times, I could even deal with the most cancerous community I've seen in a while. But the one thing that keeps me from recommending this game to anyone but complete sadists is the reliance on a good connection to the Killer with absolutely no way as the survivor to help this.

Being a peer-to-peer game you have to spend upwards of 15 minutes joining lobbies, seeing that the ping is too high, leaving lobby and repeating until you find a game with reasonable ping. To make things worse, both when you back out of a lobby or finish a game the client sends you back to the screen for queuing up solo. That doesn't sound bad right? Well it does the same thing if you are playing with friends, what that means is you have to leave the lobby (followed by a loading screen), get sent back to the main menu, wait for the timer to expire on re-queuing up with friends (its only about three seconds but it gets tedious), join the multilayer screen, invite your friends (followed by a loading screen), enter the queue to find a game, wait to join the lobby, check the killers ping, pray that it is low, but if the ping is too high you have to back out of the lobby which then sends you to the singleplayer screen again, and restart the whole process.

This could be solved with one of three things:

1) Ditch the peer-to-peer bull and get dedicated servers, I understand this could be a huge task especially for a game build around the ptp system but it would be the most complete fix.

2) Add the ability to limit the ping of lobbies you would like to join. This was actually commented on by the dev in a Q&A and they said that some people would not find games if they did, but as it stands now, if you get in a high ping lobby you leave anyways, and if you forget to check ping before the game starts and you lag in game you leave anyways, both of theses wastes the time of the four other people in your lobby/game.

3) Make it so if you back out as a group you stay as a group, this would be the least impacting on the current connection issues, however it would streamline the whole process of getting into a game by a huge amount (as previously in the review). The devs commented on this two and know what they said?
"Since Day 1, we've wanted that. The bigger issue is the same as why you drop out of a game and can't go back in, is the fact that the system doesn't have an overwatcher to make sure where you are at all times, so once you're disconnected you're disconnected and back in the void. It's been my top-priority for two months, I haven't worked on it yet."
HOW IS SOMETHING THAT'S TOP-PRIORITY FOR TWO MONTHS NOT BEEN TOUCHED? Either someone doesn't know what top-priority means, or this dev have done literally nothing for two months.

TL;DR This game has so much potential to be a great game, but it is stuck behind developers who are so detached from the game that they either don't know what to do, or don't know how to do it.

Feels very bare bones. I think its called minimum to reflect the work put into making it.

Early Access Review
Don't bother with this game yet, it has the potential to be good but right now it is so bad it is furstrating to play.
