After playing DayZ for an extended amount of time since my original review, the game has improved Vastly.
Previously, the game would run terribly on pretty much any gaming rig. It had barely any zombies, and no vehicles. The previous releases also had horrible gun play and really dodgy physics.

Since then Bohemia have rebuilt the game from the ground up and are slowly adding back all of the things they removed to get the game running smoothly and efficiently. The game runs beautifully now, with no lag and great FPS. The vehicles are back and working well (mostly, they're a little glitchy and made out of bone china). There are plenty of zombies, which if you get cornered can be a genuine threat. The gun play is much better now, and lets you actually see what you're shooting at without blinding levels of muzzle flash.

The addition of workshop content and private servers has also been a fantastic addition to the game. Being able to add customized buildings, vehicles, clothing, weapons, and so on, are awesome additions to the game that were always missing compared to the DayZMOD.

Don't be afraid to give DayZ a shot, it's now worth the money and an absolute blast to play with your friends. If the Zombies, cold, and disease don't kill you, surely a bandit on a hill with a sniper will.
