I just recently heard of Paradox of Hope, and it looks freaking awesome. Too bad I won't get to play it now due to it getting a cease and desist from these devs despite taking no content or copyrighted stuff. I love metro, the games are awesome, but i would get this game some other way that lowers the money you're giving them by as much as possible.

A very cool mech game. If you like mech games, you'll like it.

It's kind of complex to allow you to put thought into builds, but lightweight enough you can just throw stuff together to make it work as most parts within a category do similar things. It is nice to be able to just go in if you don't feel like optimizing a build or reading up on stats, but making thoughtful stuff is overall kind of limited. Overall a good game though.

It's different from what I expected, since I didn't play the demo. I'd suggest playing the demo. I'm not finished yet. still have a good bit to go but it's been awesome, especially on Casual mode since i'll be able to complete everything in one go without time limits. The enter text to find stuff is really cool, but can be frustrating with how precise you need, and often without visual aid. Lastly, for some reason this stutters on the steam deck but otherwise is a very good experience on it, the track pads work great and you'll get a ton of battery life.

The game is awesome, well worth the money, and the mercenaries game mode is really well done too, everything's great.
It's just they added microtransactions post-launch.

Pretty fun and unique, most of the cards are fun to play with and strategise unique combos with, the only problem being if you can get those fun combos in the first place. I feel like a big problem that weighs this down is over reliance on RNG in almost every aspect (grenade RNG, card RNG, shotgun spread RNG, etc), but honestly the worst part is that you can only pick between two options for powers after each floor, severely limiting the choices you get. If it could be upped to three it'd really help give freedom to the player for building while still remaining mostly random.

Early Access Review
60% custom difficulty money reduction is still way too much, and is a poor way of handling it in the first place. Completely ruins it if you were looking for an experience like say 'Professional but with longer fingerprint times'. If you want that now you'll be getting less than half the normal reward just for that small change. If you're bent on reducing the money rewards, do a dynamic system of some kind to cap the upper limit of cash that can be gained rather than flat percentage decrease.

the update is good, i would say it's made the game better, but it still feels early access and that the game was "released" not because it was done, but because they wanted a reason to raise the price tag as fast as possible. It's definitely good and is fun to play overall, but for what it is it is still expensive and early access.

The karma system absolutely ruins the game and never should have been added. There is no sense of progression either and RNG is a major game factor. If you can get past the fact that dying is more punishing than dying in darksouls, that RNG will often be the sole decider of you living or not, and that you can't ever get 'stronger' or mechanically upgraded, there is a pretty, unique, and cool game underneath.

Very fun and unique game with lots of replayability. There is like twelve characters with each one having customizable skills/kits. Only problem is that by default, RNG really dictates your loadout and you can get shafted if you dont get what you need for a specific character. However, there is an artifact/game modifier you can unlock which allows you to bypass this and choose exactly what items you want. Also another problem is the current final boss is super unfun to fight, but theres a second way to win each run so fighting him isn't necessary.

Early Access Review
Its decent right now, but is completely not worth it's price, but its just released in early access and is set to receive more content so hopefully it'll end up receiving enough content to justify the price.

Main grievances-
Enemies are handed out like candy even in normal mode, and they're very non threatening since on normal mode you get 20 lives and a ♥♥♥♥ ton of bullets. All you have to lose is a few seconds of travel back from the nearby checkpoint. Not to mention, there is no trace of the humanoid thing monsters from the videos, and all the corpses unfortunately don't do anything. To pour more salt onto the wound there isn't native multiplayer and the AI is garbage. The current state is less Thing inspired and more dead space inspired.

Positives-
It is very promising, with some changes it could be a very good game, but its being held back by the complete lack of tension, threats, and actual scary situations. I'm halfway through the campaign and it has felt more like an action shooter than anything horror related.
