It may not stand up to today's graphical beauty standards, but PVKII is great fun. It's a Source Engine based first person shooter with relatively in depth melee combat. The character designs are charming and have their own quirky dialogue and each of them is their own unique class(currently 11 with more to come). Everything feels smooth and responsive and I have not experienced many issues with hit detection. Development for this game is slow, it's a small team and this is a free game afterall, but it's still alive and a lot of love gets put into it.

I don't have a lot of issues with the game but there are a few nitpicks;

The game is a little unbalanced(or was. I have admittedly not played in a while), and one of three teams tends to dominate the round by a large margin.

Vikings tend to be the less popular team in my experience, leading to unbalanced teams.

The playerbase is extremely small. It's difficult to find an active server that isn't either full or playing the same map/gamemode 24/7.

The game is also a little different and difficult to get the hang of, while the small community consists largely of veteran players. This means that new players tend to drop the game quickly, as has happened with a few friends I've introduced to it.


Despite this, I have a lot of fun with this game and it is nostalgic to me, as I played the original Half-Life 1 mod to death. Please give it a try!
