Pseudoregalia is a good game with flaws. I feel a bit bad attributing them to the game itself, when most of them are caused by the Unreal Engine. As far as the visual style goes, the game is taking relatively heavy inspiration from Ocarina of Time, but it doesn't quite understand what makes it that. The game uses bilinear and nearest filtering interchangeably, which is just not something that was done on the N64. Additionally, the UI textures are just too low resolution, which results in the engine using bilinear filtering, which again, isn't faithful to the N64.

The game has a 'retro resolution scale' option, which renders the game at a lower resolution, then blurs it with more bilinear filtering, which can't be disabled. The issue is that it only does this for the 3d pass, and not for the UI, which leaves the UI feeling extremely out of place. Also, the game has dithering, which N64 games seldom did. OOT certainly didn't use it. The dithering becomes much more apparent when using the retro resolution scale.

I really don't feel right leaving a negative review on a game like this, being that my complaints are entirely nitpicks, and nitpicks that aren't even the fault of the game developer, but I do feel the need to point them out, and implore future game developers to avoid Unreal Engine for retro-style games.

Yea like it's pretty fun, but the steam charts are a flat line, so don't expect any online play. Story is fun, and I'd comment on the multiplayer if I had any friends

If you're coming from the binding of isaac, and are just here because isaac is in the game, you probably aren't gonna enjoy it much, but it's cheap enough on sale

Path of Exile 2 is not a game I can recommend in it's current state. It's currently full of bugs, performance issues and nearly entirely lacking in content. It's predecessor is a much more well rounded game currently, so I suggest you go play that instead. If and when the game improves, my review will change with it

To be clear, I *do* enjoy this game, but as it stands, I have too many criticisms of it to actually recommend you play it

Teardown is the high water mark for what a modern game can be. Technologically innovative, reasonably priced and effortlessly fun. I'd forgive you for looking at the price tag and thinking it's a bit much for an indie game, but it's the best $30 I have spent in a long time. For the people that remember what I'm talking about, it's like those Roblox games where you'd destroy the other team's base, but far far more polished and advanced. This is what modern gaming should strive to be.

No neutral review, so I'm giving this a positive review, but I don't feel nearly as strongly about it as I should.

Let's start with the positives. This DLC is $8. I think that's worth keeping in mind. Most games' in-app purchases are larger than that. You get far more content than you would in most modern games, and I think that's very commendable. Secondly, the racing is actually fun. I did find myself wishing there was more to it at times. I loved the elimination races, even if it isn't a new concept. I did have a lot more fun playing this DLC than I thought I would going into it.

Now on to the negatives. The racing has problems. There's the obvious ones that a lot of racing games have - The first half of the first lap determines far too much. If you get out in front, it's very hard to fall behind if you don't crash. On the flipside, it's very difficult to catch the driver in 1st if they don't crash themselves. Additionally, the AI is just far too aggressive a lot of the time. I know this isn't an ultra-competitive racing game, but being driven off the road by an AI just gets frustrating after a while. Oh and the derby events. God they're terrible. Sometimes you just don't get points. Sometimes you give other racers points when you clearly should've gotten them. Retry-spamming is far more effective than it should be. Towards the end of the Folkrace campaign, I honestly found myself glad that it was finished.

Ultimately, I *did* enjoy this DLC, and I'd struggle to give it a negative review, given the price, but this is definitely a step down from the main game. I do have a lot of complaints about this DLC, but on the whole, I don't feel negatively about it.

Steam's lack of a neutral review option has once again lead me to an uncomfortable choice. If I could give this game a 'neutral' review, I'd do so, but I don't feel as bad about giving a negative review as I might for some other games.

Let's start with the positives: The game is genuinely very fun, given the right circumstances. I've only played a few hours, and I know I'll be putting a few more in. I'm definitely going to enjoy this game while the playerbase sticks around. This game truly reminds me of the early days of Among Us, and I love that.

Now on to the negatives. The game has been out for 4 months, and there's still only one map. Additionally, the gameplay is the same formula every run, with surprisingly little in terms of variation. I can already feel the formula going stale. If Lockdown Protocol wants to succeed, the game needs content updates. The playerbase simply won't wait around for another 6 months for a reasonable size content update. The game has cultivated an audience, and it needs to capitalise on that before that audience disperses. It's a cycle I've seen with all too many indie games, and I fear it will happen here too.

Lastly, it's 2024. The lack of native ultrawide support is just unforgivable. I'd more readily overlook it 5 years ago, but it's just not good enough anymore.
