True story:

I remember owning a Volcom hooded jacket in high school. A classmate wouldn't stop asking if I snowboarded. I always told him no, and to stop asking.

He was baffled why I owned a snowboarding branded hoodie.

To him, I was encroaching into his cultural territory as a "tourist", and it offended him.

For me, it was a sentimental gift. It was comfy and warm.

I guess I'd rather be a warm and comfy "tourist".
