Really sad, Game itself is 10/10 better then both previous versions.

The money grab is borderline embarrassing. I purchased the Legend edition as i have a well established career and funds to do so. Frankly the first week was great, one of my reactions was - wow you can actually get some currency and enjoy this game WITHOUT micro transactions.

Now after the VC changes I'm encouraging my friends not to purchase the game. Check the box for another publicly traded companys greed destroying what could be easily the best golf game. We are still some years away but lets hope AI is a realy competitive game changer for smaller and indie devs. Till then we are stuck getting fleeced.

Overall 8/10 - Been playing series since Civ II - 1998

This iteration has so much potential - much of the heavy lifting has been done - it now needs 6-18 months of refinement. I have played 3 complete games and found each enjoyable.

I have many gripes but couple that stick out the most are
- AI CIvs forward settling / no loyalty causes, just what is terrible country shapes/boundaries
- The forced exploration era - specifically the expansion aspect (bring home trade ships) basically makes gameplay very linear
- Maps are just boring because of the exploration age victory conditions (caveat navigable rivers are a fantastic addition)

A must buy! Everything it adds to the game is great.

Very different from Civ4, some hardcore players wont like the mainstream changes, but once you give it a couple plays its still civ. Gods and Kings brings it up a notch and I would recomend it to any strategy gamer. Its always a good time. Firraxis is one company I think makes buying their product worth it.
