Jerk with a Heart of Gold : He wore the stage persona of a raunchy, angry, cussing ball of fury, but it was just a Jerkass Façade: off-stage Carlin was often regarded as a friendly, quiet man. In an interview, he noted that if he was really as bitter and angry as he acted on-stage, he probably would have killed himself years ago. Instead, his act gave him a chance to vent on-stage and acted as a catharsis that made him feel good about doing it. When doing his work for Shining Time Station, he wasn't used to performing without an audience, as he had to record his narrations in a recording booth. The directors placed a teddy bear on a stool in the booth with him so he could narrate to it as his "audience." While at an airport, he was met with a young man confused at seeing Mr. Conductor in the real world. Rather than disillusion him by telling him that Mr. Conductor didn't exist, he patiently explained that he was "on vacation" from the magical island. He genuinely loved his wife, Brenda, and felt a lot of guilt about how he acted during most of his daughter's childhood.

The shadow in water belongs to the spirit of the ocean: the 40 feet whale shark. They are the biggest – and some of the most enigmatic – creatures on Earth. Nobody really knows, what is the map of their oceanic trails, where they are born and why they tend to gather in particular places. Before the 15 fishermen's eyes, the 15 ton giant, lured by the perspective of a hearty meal, devours the contents of the fishermens' nets. Again and again it's huge mouth opens up to suck in hundreds of fish. But instead of throwing harpoons at the thief or pull the nets back inside the boats, the fishermen do the unbelievable: they laugh and invite their guest for the feast. Whale shark – they say – is the spirit of the ocean and the harbinger of prosperity. What they do is even more surprising because even the dorsal fin of this giant could be sold on the black market for 15 000 dollars – which is more than all of them could earn during the entire year.
