TL;DR: Dome Keeper, but flipped by 90 degrees horizontally.

Ever imagined how Dome Keeper would look like, if you would not sit in a bunker, but would instead climb an infinite vertical wall, riding in a robo-spider? Well, this games answers that question for you.

Core game loop consists of three things: you move between holes in the wall via your aforementioned robo spider; you drill those holes and explore them for loot by disembarking your vehicle and drilling/gathering inside; you defend from incoming waves.

Once in a while there's a boss coming to finish you off with a one-shot death punch. Eventually, you will unlock necessary equipment to dodge the those brutal hits and to launch counter-attacks to damage the boss itself. But to get there, you'll have to die quite a few times.

All in all, game loop does seem satisfying for the first few hours, so I would say the game's definitely worth those few bucks of it's price, plus I'll support an indie dev, if they've got an original title, whenever I can.

Should I buy this game?
Probably yes, especially if you've played Dome Keeper and liked it.

TL;DR: Shotgun blast from the past.

Shotgun Legend is a very obvious nod to the old Zelda classic, with a lot of mechanics expanded upon. 8-bit aesthetics, including both visual style and sound, dip you into that good ol' 90s vibe—great medicine for the ones reminiscing of the titles of old.

Gameplay is as Zeldaesque as it gets: you explore a familiar yet foreign land, fight spiders, skeletons and other god-knows-whats, solve puzzles and shoot your shotgun, of course. Game doesn't take itself too seriously, which is a huge relief, as it frequently is the reason why indie titles fail. Game occasinoally throws a joke or two your way, to keep you entertained.

One of the less mentioned positive aspects of the game is the shotgun shooting mechanic. It's pretty great, as it forces you to come close to enemies to maximize damage, taking that extra risk of getting damaged yourself.

One of the few things that might be considered negative about the game is the music. There's not a lot of tracks, and you get tired of them pretty fast, even for such short title. Entire game takes around 6-7h to beat, but I had to turn off music after 2h of playing.

Should I buy this game?
Definitely, if you're feeling nostalgic about the old Zelda, but don't want to play the same game for 10th time.

TL;DR: A short surreal horror experience

Finding an indie gem in the dozens of daily releases always feels refreshing, but with this game it's like finding a very personal letter in a heap of spam and newspapers. "Personal" isn't an exaggeration in this case, as this story is told in a very intimate and self-contemplative way, making player pause for a second and wonder.

It's really hard to judge such a personal title, as this game definitely transcends gaming, at same time demonstrating how an indie game can be a powerful vehicle for storytelling and emotional resonance. Game prompts reflection on the human condition and the complexity of personal experience, making you foster empathy with an imagined character like you probably didn't experience before.

Should I buy this game?
If you're open-minded about how a visual novel can look and feel, then definitely give this a try.

Context:
publisher decided to increase price for this game in Russia from 549 RUB to 6666 RUB (1200% increase), as a way of supporting Ukraine.

Despite of me being Russian, I'm supportive of regular Ukrainian people. I don't feel like anyone wants the war, and this horrible thing must be stopped.

That being said, as a gamer, I always had this point of view that games should be out of politics, and that gamers of the world shouldn't be involved in any of these dirty political games. Evidently, Thing Trunk thinks different. And I can not support a developer/publisher, who's actively alienating a portion of their player base. I feel like in times like these gamers should stand united against war, not divided by actions like this drastic increase in title price.

I truly love Titanfall universe, but the way devs give absolutely zero ♥♥♥♥♥ about the fact that their servers have been down for 3+ weeks is astonishing. I simply can not support a developer/publisher with such low quality of customer support. Multiplayer is unplayable (literally), and nothing gets done about it.

Also, the fact that you 100% need an Origin client to play the game on Steam is surprising to say the least.

TL;DR: Cheap and easily passable indie platformer.

I always try and support the small indie developer, but there's just all cons with this game, all the way. Like, let's start from the basic stuff: why use a custom game engine, instead of Unity or UE? A custom game engine, which can't even go into windowed mode -- judging by the amount of bugs (crashes on startup, also crashes if literally anything goes wrong), no one ever wanted to support it.

Sound design is non-existant, text-to-speech instead of dialogue, extremely basic assets everywhere you look, no significant visual effects whatsoever, very basic lighting... and the game is still >1 Gb, I mean, just... why?

All in all, stuff like this is usually reserved to be uploaded to itch.io, a free demo visualization of something you did over a weekend. But since it's been sold on Steam, I'll make sure to leave my review here, so you won't accidentally buy this game.

Should I buy this game?
No, definitely not.

TL;DR: Short but brutal puzzle platformer with meta jokes.

It's been a while since I played an oldschool platformer like this one, and it was even more time since I enjoyed one, and this particular one is a... tricky title to review.

By the first look, it's a pretty simple game with more or less recognizable mechanics, and nothing stands out. But when you see a certain heroic character of a popular franchise die within first minutes of the game, you think to yourself: "Oh, this should be good."

Actual gameplay is pretty linear: you unlock new ways of shooting your uber-gun, you defeat new enemies, you solve puzzles and progress through levels. There's exactly three mini-games, and an option to play through the game once more, now on Iron Man mode. Other than that, there's nothing else to do after you complete it.

In it's good moments, this game reminds me of what would've happened if the Invincible comic title met with Player One Ready and had a short romance. Why a short one, you ask? Well, it takes anywhere between 2 and 3 hours to beat the game (extra time spent on hunting some achievements, if you're into that), but technically you can speedrun it within ~1 hour. Is it worth it? Well, you decide -- all things considered, I think it is.

I came to this game not expecting anything, but was greeted by a unique mix of dark meta humor, brutality and some good puzzles. All in all, I was not disappointed.

Should I buy this game?
If you're into platformers, brutality and meta gaming-related jokes and if you don't mind the game being relatively short, then definitely yes. In any other case, you can skip it.

TL;DR: Chill and atmospheric younger sibling of Limbo and Inside.

Very beginning of the game is setting the tone for the rest of it: you are leaving home to travel to the other side of the world with some makeshift vehicle slash ship, and believe me whan I say this -- you will not ever experience such a strong emotional attachment to an inanimate object, like with this vehicle.

This adventure is relatively short (full walkthrough will take around 2 hours to finish), but it really is atmospheric -- you will fuel, repair and upgrade your vehicle as you go, making it better with each mile you pass, as pushing forward through sometimes very unwelcoming environment requires a second to think, and sometimes an unusual approach.

Significant part of the atmosphere consists of sounds and music you hear during your journey -- sound designer did a great job with the soundtrack and the way it changes as you start gaining speed (especially for the first time).

Should I buy this game?
It is unlikely you will want to return to this game to complete it once again, but same can be said for Inside or Limbo, but your first time experience is going to be very, very memorable.

TL;DR: Underwhelming horror novel with Giger-inspired setting.
Let me make one thing clear before I start ranting: I don't really like walking simulators. Few exceptions to that would be Vanishing of Ethan Carter, SOMA and maybe What Remains of Edith Finch, but other than that -- can't call myself a fan of the genre. And since this game clearly loses to all three titles I've listed, it's only going to be downhill from here.

Core marketed feature of this game, as you may have noticed from the name, screenshots and the trailer, is erotic subtext of the events unfolding in the game. Unfortunately, this aspect does not make the game more appealing -- in fact, it's the other way around. Gigerian art style of some of the locations, items and creatures looks pretty cheap and uninspired. The whole concept of the game, revolving around lust, and weird-ass looking aliens, and parallel universes, and lust in parallel universes, does not seem well-written, despite three side-quests explaining in excruciating details events that unfolded prior to the game.

Story is moving very slowly, cutscenes for the most part are cheaply made (much like the majority of the assets), and the only three horror-like scenes require you to just run away from the monster chasing you.

There is simply nothing extraordinary about the game -- storytelling is boring, graphics is outdated, sounds and music are pretty mediocre too. Adding insult to injury, game is very short and can be completed within ~40 minutes, if you're playing by a walkthrough -- I've tried to solve puzzles myself, and that sometimes took a lot of time I could've spent with a lot more use elsewhere.

Should I buy this game?
I would say, no, you shouldn't. You might want to grab it on a heavy discount (90%), if you're a hardcore Giger fan, but otherwise you can safely skip it.
