Hopefully the Early Access period for this game will see it improve, but in its current state the game just feels very unsatisfying to play.

The implementation of all the DRG element is very well done, but the combat and the overall balance itself really needs some adjusting with how weak I often feel compared to the mobs that I'm facing. During the first few floors it often feels like the most effective way of fighting big mobs is by exploiting the explosion damage from the Exploders dying instead of relying on your own weapons. The way some of the weapons shoots also doesn't mesh well with the way levels in this game are designed.

Overclocks needing to be unlocked first is also an unfortunate choice since some of them heavily improve the weapons, meaning you have to get the weapon to level 12 in a run first so it can be better the next time around instead of it just having this function from the beginning.

Movement feels good and it does some interesting things with its mechanics, but it's Early Access in all but name and price. Lacks a lot of basic features (good controller options, more training mode options, alternate colors for characters), the online netcode is all over the place, and the lobby system is awful. This despite the game being build on a modified engine from Ludosity's previous game, Slap City, which did all of these things better even during its early development. The cast suffers from a lack of variety in their normal attacks, though at least their special attacks are more distinct. It's also riddled with technical issues. The latest patch does show the potential of a better game in the future, but it's not worth the 50 dollar asking price.

The introduction had me intrigued but the experience afterwards just made me more and more frustrated as it went on. The stamina system doesn't mesh well with the one-hit kill, trial and error nature of the game. It's not as much of a problem in the beginning, but once you start to come across enemies that are faster than your character it just stops being fun.

Pretty neat murder mystery game. Definitely takes a lot of inspiration from Danganronpa and Suda 51/Grasshopper Manufacture's games (especially Danganronpa 2 and Flower, Sun, and Rain). Soundtrack's great and does a good job of selling the tropical island vibe the game is going for. Was pretty surprised at how interesting the setting actually is. Hopefully the developers do more with it in future projects.

The first person platforming can be rather frustrating at times, and having fast travel be tied to a finite resource was a rather weird design choice. The actual trial itself was a little underwhelming as well since aside from hand picking the suspect yourself, all that really happens is that you just go through the list of evidence you have against them. The result is that a successful conviction comes down more to having enough evidence on the suspect rather than having to do any actual work during the trial itself. I did like how you can at least choose to start the trial whenever you feel like it, no matter how much evidence you have collected.

An incredibly well done spiritual successor to the original two Paper Mario games. The game does shamelessly take elements from those games (the overall style, UI design, basic combat mechanics, leveling system, badge system), but as the game goes on it starts to become much more distinctive and manages to do a great job of crafting it's own identity.

The world is very well thought out, and the cast of characters have a lot of fun writing to them. Combat has some nice additions, my favorite being the ability to pass over a character's turn to another character, which opens up a lot of strategic possibilities. Difficulty is handled pretty well, both in normal and hard mode. There's a lot of side quests to complete, including optional dungeons and bosses, and backtracking is never too bothersome because of a nicely implemented fast travel system as well as a very useful sprint ability the players unlocks later on.

My main complaint would be that platforming and using abilities in the overworld can feel a bit cumbersome at times because of the perspective, but it never got bad enough to ruin the experience.

Indivisible is filled with good ideas, but an incredibly sloppy execution. Great art and character designs are dragged down by bad writing, a badly paced story, an underused cast of characters, and difficulty that is more tedious than challenging because of enemy health. The combat system offers a lot of variety, but the enemies are designed in such a way that you can just spam the same moves one after another without any issues. Exploration gets more fun later on after unlocking more skills, but is rather lacking during the first half of the game.

What originally started as a purchase to hold myself over till the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, has over time managed to turn into my personal favorite platform fighter currently on the market.

Don't let the simplistic graphics give the impression it's nothing more than a cheap clone, as Slap City manages to have more than enough to make it stand out. From its interesting and varied cast of characters, the unique clutch mechanic, satisfying movement, as well as many other small touches, the game is able to offer enough to give it its own identity.

There's enough depth and tech to satisfy the more competitive players, while for the more casual players there's enough fun to be found within the single player story mode, Slap Ball multiplayer mode, Free-for-All game mode, and a nice selection of varied stages.

Over the two years of its Early Access development the game has gone through many changes, both small and big, and I feel pretty confident in saying that the game is as good as it's ever been.

If you're looking for a great alternative to Smash Bros., or just want to see more of the potential the platform fighter genre has to offer, then this game is easily worth checking out.
