Don't expect your other fleet ships to do much. They love to get destroyed while not shooting back and when you order them to flee they decide to finally join the fight.

Boarding has a slight learning curve, so when you try boarding ships with larger crews don't get mad when you get wrecked when you're starting out.

If it was F2P i'd recommend it, but not for $20 in its current state.
