The game is fairly random, which is my attribution as to why it's difficult. A set of levels appears to have a common art theme, but not a common gameplay theme.

Many puzzle games introduce a mechanic and build upon it, this game does not do that in a conventional manner. I'm sure the devs put a lot of time into the game since there are new mechanics in almost every level, but the game doesn't really have a coherent presentation. Most levels I wouldn't call what I did "solving a puzzle", more just wandering around or trying things randomly until the game progressed. Was there a mechanic involved to progress? Yes. Was there any depth to that mechanic? Not usually.

That said, I only played through the first two worlds. Chances are that the mechanics do build up, as no set of devs can come up with a hundred different mechanics. But the organization of levels is rather frustrating. It's like taking a person and tossing them into a workshop and telling them to use one tool, then some other tool entirely. You don't ever develop your skill with one tool because you simply don't get the opportunity to become familiar with it.

The art is pretty cool. I don't really care for the soul faces and the 'death' style screen/enemies and actually think they don't fit the game so much (Could just be abstract objects instead), but the rest of the environments are cool looking and provide good ambiance.

Overall it's the kind of game that doesn't make me feel compelled to continue playing due to the disjointness of the puzzles. It's like finishing the sudoku in the newspaper and then deciding that maybe later you'll come back to doing the crossword and maybe later after that you'll do the word search, or read the comics. But, more than likely, next week's paper will come out and it'll be forgotten.
