Early Access Review
Would I recommend the game as it has been for me? A million times yes.

Would I recommend the game for someone buying it for the future? Potentially no, and here's why:

OWI, the developers of Squad, got a new CEO in the last year who is from the mobile game industry. Tencent has also acquired a piece of the company. Now, under new leadership, the company has backtracked on the past leadership's promise of no paid DLC ever, and has announced a new emotes paid DLC. Show me a company, who would say "Alright gents, we have made enough money here, lets not do more profitable DLC". Right now it is relatively harmless emotes, but soon it is not out of the question that wilder emotes, skins and eventually paid maps+factions will be monetized.
Furthermore, this will take development time of developers away from actual content and bugfixing.

Squad is and has always been a product of its community. The servers are owned, administered and ran by the community. The gameplay is dictated almost unilaterally by the Squad Leaders. Gameplay will still be fun, but imagine you drop what is it now, 50€ on the game, and on map switch, get kicked out of a server because you did not buy the 20€ map pack from where the next map is from.

But surely, OWI leadership will stop wanting increased profits after some emotes have been sold successfully.

If you want to play it right now, buy it and enjoy it, its immersive, fun and exciting. But be aware of the recent developments and for what the future might hold - how long the product you bought and enjoy is going to last.
