Factorio is a great 2D factory building, resource gathering game. And it come with feisty aliens! It has various levels of challenges and as a side benefit it lowers my blood pressure. (LOL) Look, the qualities of the game is difficult for me to explain but I enjoy the building the factories, setting up the train routes, etc. Plus the pleasure (or frustration) of it my way. The game worth a try!
