After playing thru the other DLC's in career and campaign modes,I decided to try the Dragon's Gambit DLC.
It became my favorite. It was the storyline. The way the player get's pulled into defending the Combine made
sense. By the end of this DLC's storylined missions,I was much more sympathetic to the fate of the Combine.
A well-written addition to the base game. I just wish there was more where that came from. As long as the
developer of MechWarrior 5: Mercs cares to crank-out DLC,I will be an interested party that buys them.

I have all of the DLC for this game(MW 5 Mercs),and I've played thru all of their content. Repeatedly.
I enjoy the Solaris storyline, the melee weapons and other material this DLC added to the base game.
If there is one problem for this particular DLC,it's the ai that drives the computer-controlled
mechs.
In Solaris DLC,during the arena matches(especially in free-for-all mode matches),I found enemy mechs
that were not engaging other mechs at all;just standing in place where they started the map. This means
those mechs will be fresh when the player approaches. In free-for-all mode,it's like a deathmatch. If some
enemy mechs just wait for you to approach, they won't be battle damaged like you.
It's frustrating to me to discover such a glaring issue in one of my favorite games. Enemy ai is very important
in any single player mode wargame.
I like everything about Solaris DLC,except how MW 5's simplistic ai makes some matches.

Not too shabby. And I've played _alot_ of mech games. You did well. Thank you for sharing it.

Early Access Review
I played this briefly awhile back. I'm a mech head,so the detailed sandboxing of the
mech builds was a cool feature. But. Back then (a year+ ago),it was labeled Early
Access, but it's release was 2019(???) My concern is that, apparently,Early Access
is being used as a kind of pass for devs to only produce half-made(or worse) games
that get sold to players expecting a more finished product after a reasonable amount
of time(say 6 mos to a year?) I would love for this game to become a fully realized,
and finished(no longer Early Access) version. I like mech games. Finished mech games.
A game with little or no content is like an empty promise. Just a pretty box.
I cannot recommend a shell of a game,no matter it's potential. :/

An older classic. It's predecessor,XCOM,was my obsession for many an evening...many moons ago.
If you look at this game and go,"Oh,turn-based combat. Yuck.",then you'll be missing something here.
There's quite a bit of detail the devs poured into this little alien hunter.
Another fine old game about which I can say: "They don't make them like this any more".

Sins is a great example of how games used to be made for pc:
* Years back,it was complete(finished game,no dev constant tampering with the code) when I bought it.
* It worked fine out of the 'box' when installed. When you used a function of a ship of other thing,it worked as expected.
* Sins enemy ai was quite functional, and actually challenging(compared to games these days that claim the same).
* The game never crashed on me while I played it,I never had to hunt down an obscure patch to get it to work.
* Sins was(and likely still is) a very popular wargame,with plenty of detail(from ship's systems,planetary invasion and development,tech trees,etc.) to keep a player amused
forever.
I'm back here on Sin's store page today because I am sick and tired of a more recent fleet-warfare type game and want something to scratch that itch that was made right the first time
by a respectable dev. Sins may be older, but it sure as heck need not take a backseat to alot
of modern games for overall playability and proper coding. Buy Sins if you like a better
game of this type.
*edit: One more thing: I noticed some commentary about the price of this game. I'm an _old_
wargamer, and I can tell you this,"You get what you pay for". In this case at least. Sin's costs
that price because here as an actual professionally coded wargame, with a proven track-record years-long of player-friendly functionality. Few games like this anymore. Cost isn't everything.

One of the greatest games of it's kind...of all time. And I've played _alot_ of games,of this kind(or just several really good
ones!). When you wade thru TES V's issues, tack some decent mods onto it(to iron out the bugs, playability, and pretty-up
the graphics and elves),well, you've got yourself a game.
Lot of blah-blah-blah about the dev. What's done is done. But,a few very talented people,at the time, made TES V and
another game with the same engine(same problems, but, who doesn't have problems?). Turns out,I keep coming back to
those games. I'm playing the 'other' game right now. I build, modify and improve my weapons. Put armor on my NPC
friends, and head out...into a world like no other. Still discovering new things. Still.
Buy it before you can't anymore. One of the last, truly great games. Nuff' said.

Best DLC sold for Fallout 4. Load some decent texture mods for the environmental stuff(trees, water, weather, etc.)
and Far Harbor becomes quite beautiful. In a totally lurking sort-of hostile way. I liked it. Reminds me of Oregon.
With some radiation and alot of mutated sci-fi critters. Also some androids. 'Kay done.

Want to see an example of a _good_ game? One that delivers? It's not new. It won't require a 3rd party Eula.
Nor will it datamine you to tears. Just you and a variable-form war machine that you pilot and fight your enemies
with. All of it works(or worked when I played it last). So simple, yet so unique in today's shadowy arena of game
titles. (ooh,that was a good line.) ;)

I want to like this game, but it's frustrating in some ways.
* With every piece of new tech(gun, whatever) player is detached from their current task to watch a camera view of the new
tech item. Narrative dialogue is excessive for an ongoing battlefield situation.
* The intro places player in a spacecraft, and the assistive ai 'drone' briefs the player with a sit-rep. But the situation is,well,
a bit ridiculous: The player characteris _not_ a military-skilled person, etc.,but expected to accomplish tasks and defend
themselves while constructing an outpost under fire. You'd be dead, and quickly. Also, btw, your family is coming with you.
* Cannot crouch, personal weapons actions are stilted. Placing new miners, items is 'sticky'(need to just drop and run).
And etc.. Sorry, but I agree with the message of this game. (And that message is very, very important.)
Biggest thing: drone narratives feature too much verbal, and the FPOV camera snatching gets old fast.
Let me find out in-detail about those sentry weapons later,if I like. At the moment,I'm trying to kill the enemy
with a rather low-performance rifle-weapon. Needs more development,if we have the time.
