👎should you play this game? no, actually.
here is what you do in elden ring:

farm runes
become overpowered
stomp on everything
move to the next area
get crushed
repeat

once you realize that you've been stuck in this cycle
it really puts things into perspective.
what is the point of this? what did you learn? what did you really achieve?

nothing. the story is nonsensical and amounts to absolutely nothing.
all you get for beating the game is a cutscene of your character sitting on a throne.
you will never feel as though you've really gotten better at the game, because it will never allow you to.

i guess that's it, that's the lesson. that's what becoming an elden lord means.
it's just an endless cycle of battle and destruction.

but that alone isn't enough to give a negative review.
the main reason why im annoyed at this game is that the modding support is non-eixstant and the settings are not very complete. you need to download a whole mod just to disable effects like chromatic aberration. also the game doesn't always run smooth even on a great PC. it's the whole AAA graphics problem, it's just not optimised very well.
