Biased but reasonable review

I've been playing war thunder on and off now for roughly six years and to be honest about half of that time i was really interest and enjoying the game. Now I feel that the leaders of this game truly do not care about what the community thinks or says about the game.

In this current patch of the game there is so much time you would need to invest to even reach the advertised vehicles that if you played casually with a premium account you would likely graduate from college before you reached the bottom of a tech tree. The grind and farm for RP and SL has become so difficult and time laden that I am no longer looking to looking to play a fun vehicle rather I am looking to fund the cheapest or most efficient deck. This is the reason why my hours have fallen off so hard. There is no enjoyment in the game its like playing a numbers game where the numbers are depicted as tanks. Yes I understand essentially everything can be boiled down to a numbers game, but at what point should the leaders of a game stop and say maybe this is to much? I personally think it is now.

In war thunder the fundamentals of the game do not change. No matter how much we ask things relatively stay the same. For example how long have we been playing the same game mode now? Domination is a great objective game mode and in fact my favorite across all games. But like every other game developer there needs to be some point where they add something new. Furthermore, the community has been voicing reasonable and valid counter arguments and strategies to help improve the economy, research, and monetization problems for years now. Think about all the content creators we see voicing seriously good strategies and ideas to help improve the game and the leaders of this game barely follow through often time mocking or ignoring these voices.

I hate to sound rebellious because, at its core war thunder is a great idea with amazing potential. The problem is the leaders of the game have disenfranchised those who choose to financially support war thunder. Furthermore, the people who do not pay for the premium account or vehicles have very little chance of enjoying or getting a chance to enjoy the game before they find it to ludicrous to even attempt at progressing. I don't have research or statistics but i could see this creating a cycle of new players that try the game then never play again. The game leaders milk us of money recruit and survive for a bit then rinse and repeat. This game has POTENTIAL there is no reason to knee cap it like they do. But here I am fed up after six years of loyalty.

One of the biggest contributing factors to me writing this review is the insane let down of top tier. This is the majority selling point for the game. The point where a majority of players would like to end up and play at (I am referring to 8.7 and up). A point where I have sunk in roughly 800hrs. I want to say entered US top tier at around 900~1000hrs in the game. It took me similarly as long for the Japan tech tree.

Let me start with ground battles. Top tier ground battles is a mess. On the low end 8.7~9.7 you will find your self in the premium rank. This is where all the top tier vehicles are sold and often times you end up in matches full of XM-1, T-72, CV90105, and f-86(just the most popular ones i see). This can lead repetitive and annoying game play where you face the same exact enemy with little to no change in strategy. While it is bad I have to say it is a great rank when it is not a premium full match. For the latter BR rating 10.0 and higher all hell breaks loose. The maps we are forced to play on are horrid. Often times the map is held in favor to a nuclear sun or layout. Being forced to play maps like frozen pass or berlin in an Abrams is about the same as being tide up and shoved down a ventilation shaft that is 3 sizes to small all while getting stabbed. The map sizes do not come close to approaching the right proportions for these vehicles.

(top tier again folks) When it comes to air battles I was mostly in a fugue state so from memory my experiences are no better than ground battles and very similar problems when it comes to premiums. Especially the F-5C or harrier. But my biggest gripe for air battles is how little the maps are used. Unless you're in a massive Kabul or Plaku the bases and ground targets are all centered in one spot on the map. it makes for the most insufferable experience if you enjoy bombing or CAS. Often times creating this odd fly like swarm in a very condensed portion of the map.

These experiences I have had and the current state of the game cause me to not recommend this game to anyone.

I doubt Gaijin leaders will read this but please let this "review bombing" turn into motivation to improve your game. It has such good potential don't let this disconnect ruin the game.

Ill give a short and sweet below

Pros: Aesthetics, Damage mechanics, cool vehicles, and custom skins
Cons: To much grind, pay to play, very little game type development, bad monetization practices, bad community engagement, and wasted potential
