Description
This map is VERY SMALL and designed for scenic appreciation/posing/screenshots

I created this map because I thought it would be fun to make one based on how I imagine my characters' home would look. What started as a fun project to show my friends turned into something hyper-detailed and built with cutting edge tooling (Hammer++ & Slammin' Source Map compile tools) and in many places maxing out on lighting quality.

I wanted to do a proper exterior as that existed in my imagination too, but the scale of the project was getting way out of control, and years later of working on it off and on, it's gone too far and feels like there's no end. It's been way too long since I released anything and most of my time in Hammer has been spent being a masochistic perfectionist with displacements and placing foliage perfectly and it's driving me nuts, so while you can explore outside only by noclipping, the map is clearly unfinished in places if you do.
There are a couple of other smaller issues like doors not shutting, which I can't figure out why because nothing is blocking them and it only recently started, so that's annoying.

Some focus was placed on interactive elements, even though that fights with the static/baked-in elements of Source maps. For example, there's a couple of drawers in the kitchen that can be opened and closed, and the main light in the front room and bedroom can be turned on and off. If you spam the front room light on & off it even blows the bulb!

Highly recommended for use in singleplayer only.
Attempts were made to optimize, but areaportals caused the mirror to become extremely buggy and so they had to be removed.


Requirements
  • HL2: Episode Two is definitely required
  • CS:Source props are also used
  • And there is one prop from either L4D or L4D2 (the curtain over the front door window
Required props are NOT packed into the addon and I don't have any plans to include them, but if it's requested enough I might do it.

This map does NOT contain:
  • Mature content
  • Easter eggs (sorry)
  • A seamless and immersive outdoor area with lots of space for building/driving etc.
  • AI nodes outdoor
  • Nav mesh

This map DOES contain:
  • An absurd amount of detail - including sub-unit/microbrush-scale detail such as edge loops on kitchen surface edges
  • High resolution lighting and pre-built cubemaps
  • Some interactive elements
  • Resourceful reuse of vanilla assets (the blinds have a repurposed railroad texture)
  • A clock that actually ticks
  • AI nodes indoor

Future projects
I've been mapping since 2007 with long breaks from the mid 2010s onwards. Before that I released a lot of sandbox maps on garrysmods.org and a few CS:Source maps. If you've been following gmod mappers for a long time, I made gm_forest_construct, gm_hillfoot_construct and gm_amnesia_wcend. Currently in the pipeline I have a remake of one of my old sandbox maps, a nearly 1:1 recreation of the Amnesia: The Dark Descent storage map with remade from scratch props in Propper and a tinderbox & light system, and a singleplayer action Doom homage map.

if I remember correctly, it's a feature of the Slammin' Source Map compilers, there is a download link to it and another link with usage instructions in the Q&A discussion above

Thanks, it's a cliff I added since the first version. For some reason it seems to only exist in Source SDK Base 2013 MP. New version should fix it.
I'm probably not going to update this for a while and only fix stuff because I think a lot of people will just run and explore this map once then never check it again. And besides that I want to work on something besides displacements lol
