I have an enjoyment of moon pics and liked coming across your post here.

Ooo nice. Did you know the moon in my profile pic is one I took?

Yes. Definitely had a porcelain white brilliance about it.

Just checked - the Moon was conjunct with Jupiter that night. I took a photo with both of them but that doesn't look so impressive.

@Hell - Venus was visible just after sunset to the west in late June, is that when you saw it?

@Hell - if it was close to the sun setting or rising it could be Venus, that's the brightest planet.

@Fro - yep, full zoom (1200mm equivalent). The image stabilisation is really good (around 3 stops I think), but I didn't need to be that steady because I took it at 1/500th sec at f/6.5 at ISO 400. It's basically a bright summer's day exposure because it is a bright sunny day on the moon.

Awesome photo! The clarity of the moon is incredible. You have a very steady hand. I suppose that was zoomed to the max optical 50x?

Cool. Thanks for the interesting info. I saw a really bright light most likely a star about a week or so ago a few nights in a row. Was not sure if it was copter or a planet.

No, I didn't, only just downloaded it from camera today. There was a planet very close by at the time, maybe Mars, not sure, I'll have to check.

Interesting date just after Benjamin Franklin's birthday hee hee. Great photo. Not sure if you showed it to me at the time you took it.
