hmm, i could live with looking outside the level. but somehow the character is centered too high so you cant see whats above you

Eeeh, I've rarely seen any resolution this wide supported by any games. Obviously you'll end up either looking outside of the level, or the camera will have to be zoomed in so much that you cant see where you're supposed to jump.

For games like these, I'd use a single monitor :)
