How do you change unit/flag color?

I may not be the best gamer out there, but I believe the campaign is just way too difficult. After the first 4-5 levels it seems the the levels just jump up in difficulty way faster then you get stronger. Personally i think being able to gain a small amount of gold from previous levels would counterbalance this a lot, allowing the player to grab one or two extra techs and leveling the playing field....

I've downloaded the demo and when I go to try and start mission two it just says "Current token set is invalid" but gives me no idea as to what would make it valid? What am I missing and am I being very stupid?

If you have any suggestions on things to add or ways to improve the game we would love to hear them!
