Might also be that the tacticians are just very weak, I've been haven little success with them even when going for stronger traits.
I do try to mostly go for synergies among the traits, trying to fit another species in that also works with some classes of my main species.
So far I've noticed that it's more a balance problem between specie vs class, for instance brawler tends to be a win almost garuanteed, so did mage, duelist, healer, archer,.... And focussing on species seems weaker at least before stage 2-3
I've noticed that if I switch to other tacticians, winning is a lot easier.
Because Brax is the main issue, Brax is extremely underpowered compared to other tacticians at the least on stage 1.
Completed every tactician to diff 15 now, except Brax, can't even get past the first boss with 4 tier units.
She has literally 0 ways to make units stronger and mostly relies on "economy based traits", sadly you can't really get to late game fantasies like selecting a double level up when you die before level 2-3
When playing as Brax you need to get lucky.
Guess not having actual combat buffs really hurts, and the buffs and specialisations she has aren't even great or fun
Yeah, it was mostly just Brax being really really bad. Took as much time to get a win on her on 15 as it took me to get from 0-15 difficulty and beat it on every other tactician.
My girl needs insane buffs. Luckily I have 15 on everyone now.
Regarding Traits: Ghoul, which the first post mentions as being bad, is actually one of my most consistent paths to victory. It requires a banner or a Slogurk since some of the units are iffy, but Ghoul 4 represents sooo much tank and damage.
Reptiles is similar, but there it's important to realize that Reptile 5 isn't that much stronger than Reptile 3 or 4, so it's not the best trait to fully focus on.
