I just brought the game out of nostalgia and started playing again. What is the current state of the steam release, looking at features and bugs? Also which version should I install? I heard 2.0, 1.4 unofficial etc. I like rather like to avoid unofficial or community made patches since they are sometimes even more gamebreaking and what can I expect in terms of bugs etc.?...

You can get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. That's neat and all, but what even is the point? Does it improve damage stats/ hitpoints, something else, or is it just a completely useless mechanic the developers forgot to get rid of?
