Freaking game almost "killed" my Steam Deck
After playing Spider-Man 2 (with an otherwise acceptable fps performance and great looks) at some parts of the game, my Steam Deck became so unresponsive at 0-1 fps, that it completely freeze and I was unable to do whatever with my SD, including restarting my Steam Deck via the Power button itself or any other means. (Yes, I have problems with the Power button, but otherwise my old SD works great.) It's a shame because otherwise it plays and looks great on SD, but there are some parts of the game, where it slows down to 0 fps, and that includes the WHOLE SD system.

I mean, officially the game is not certified for steam deck....it may "work" but its "play at own risk"

Being slow is one thing, completely killing the SD performance (meaning: the whole system) is another. And elsewhere the game is 50 fps, with everything on medium/high, so it plays and looks great otherwise, just these parts kills the SD altogether. There's still no indicator on SD compatibility btw.

Is the power button problem the unresponsive issue, and is it only with this game or others?

I had a power button that decided not to be responsive whenever I tried to use it. I contacted Steam about the problem. They asked for proof of the problem, like a short video showing it. The RMA turnaround was quite quick on Steam's part, but the delivery service they use in the UK is rather poor. It was stuck in the sorting office for a couple of weeks.

As for Spider-Man 2 on the Steam Deck, I've only played about three hours of it with all settings on medium/low. It's installed on the Steam Deck's SSD, as the store page states an SSD is required. I also set my FPS to 60. I haven't had any problems apart from occasional slight slowdowns, nothing too bad. Plus, how warm is your Steam Deck getting?

Your settings might be the issue here. I installed it on my own Deck not long after the game released, but didn't really start playing it until NG+ where I've been doing that playthrough exclusively on there. I haven't had any issues like this and my settings were auto-set to Low in game, and I have a good enough time either having it at low or very low graphics on it + FSR. Sure, a few frame dips here but I've kept to around 45 FPS most of the time on it, and that's on an LCD Deck.
Guess what, the game got a post saying it is Steam Deck verified lol

Here is something that I do on my steamdeck to get the best fps in the most demanding games.

Turn off FSR in the game settings so you can force low resolutions and then upscale using the steamdecks own built-in FSR.

In the properties of your game in steam on your steamdeck you can force a game to run in a lower resolution than that game normally allows, that means you can force something like 520p and as long as the game is running in borderless fullscreen you can then upscale it to native res using steamdecks own built in FSR setting.

Play with resolutions under 720p and find a balance of high frames with no obvious artefacts for whatever game you're trying to run.

I can get 60fps in most titles using this method.
