I don't think I'll ever personally forgive the BF fanbase for forsaking this game when it launched. This is probably my favorite Battlefield by far. From the fundamental mechanical enhancements like the infantry movement overhaul (once you climb a chest-high hurdle you can never go back to any other battlefield I'm tellin ya), to the feel and aesthetics of the game, it's a Battlefield game down to the very core.

You wanna know what Battlefield is? Queue up a Breakthrough match. Get on a real good one, and then you're on defense, and you're holding the last point, the enemy pushing hard as your entire team manages to hold on, keeping every tank back with artillery strikes, thousands falling as the medics scramble to keep them alive amidst walls of smoke, their reinforcements falling, and their tactics get more desperate, as they slowly crack an opening through your defenses, and Johan Soderqvist's epic soundtrack roars through, bringing tension and adrenaline rushing down your veins.

And then you manage. You and your comrades empty their reinforcements to none and win. Then Johan Soderqvist's "Triumph" plays, as you finally let go of the tension of the battle, and that sense of glory washes in like a tidal wave.

That right there? That's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Battlefield, man. It's the kinda feeling that gives you goosebumps when you remember it. You can't really put it into words, but those who felt it, know. This game deserved more. Much more.
