If you can wade through the learning curve and the at times abrasive community, find yourself a group to play and get better with, Dota can be a fantastic game. 5v5 gameplay demands intelligent teamwork decision making as well as good individual mechanics. Free to play is great, microtransactions are only in the form of cosmetic items to make your heroes look sexier, your HUD glow or to make you gain levels (and item drops) faster. The main thing to know is you will suck for a while. Might feel like a long time. I still suck. It gets better. This intro made me into the substandard Dota player I am today.
