This game has a surprising amount of depth and I never anticipated getting nearly this much playtime out of it. Absolutely worth picking up if you want to scratch that world building sandbox itch.

This game is a clear love letter to the souls genre while still introducing a plot and game mechanics that are completely unique. Absolutely worth picking up!

Fantastic yet simple soulslike game that has one of the most compelling stories I've seen in a while. This is absolutely worth picking up.

Simple yet faithful remake of the original final fantasy 2 experience. No extra content such as "Dawn of Souls" unfortunately. The game is a little short and the story has not aged well in the face of time, but I had a great time playing! An easy weekend RPG that works great with the Steam Deck!

tl:dr - It's not perfect, but it's the best official Magic: the Gathering game to ever exist. Just like cardboard MTG it's going to do it's best to compel you to spend money.

Pros:
-Once you have a card, you can use it in an unlimited amount of decks. You will still need to acquire multiple if you are using multiple copies of the card in a deck, but for brawl (the commander format) it becomes easier to make a wide variety of good decks.

-Wildcards of each rarity type can be obtained and exchanged for any card of that rarity. This means that the cardboard value of new cards do not affect ones ability to get them in this game.

-Quick in and out magic! Everything is slightly automated so you'll find yourself playing far more games than you would in paper.

Cons:
-The economy is rough and very limiting. Wildcards and coins (free currency) trickle through easily enough through daily and weekly quests, but these rewards are limited and have diminishing returns once you collect the first few wins. Gems (premium currency) are another story. Though the shop and battle passes often trickle some gems in as rewards or deals, it is a near impossible climb to be able to earn the battle pass and other gem purchases without paying money or getting a high win/loss ratio on draft tournaments.

-Lack of communication and friendship functionality. Though you can add and play matches with your friends, there is no chat system within the games you play with strangers, with the only communication ability being emoji's and other small phrases that are purchasable via gems. This is not necessarily a con for those who don't want this aspect or have young children playing, but some players like myself find that there is a void where the social aspect of MTG should be. Also there is no format available for anything beyond 1v1.

-Lack of trading/dusting cards. In this game, once you have a card in your collection it's yours forever and that's that.

-Quick in and out magic... Yeah it's a con too.... This is mainly a playerbase thing, but there is nothing in the game that incentives players to play games out for any amount of time so expect a lot of turn 1 scopes if you're the type to bust out turn 1 thoughtseize or authority of the consuls.

This game has taught me that it is not my enemies that I must fear, but my greed instead.

A great collection of games from a bygone era. It is a fantastic showcase of the fact that creativity can be born from limitations.
