A wonderful rougelike with a passionate dev team! This game is sure to make you feel nostalgic if you play older RPGs and the co-op makes everything infinitely more fun. I recommend actually playing the tutorial as the game is quite difficult (as all good rougelikes should be) and will require you to actually learn how to play it.

The graphics and environment of this game are top notch and definitely something I would expect from a modern AAA game. In truth, this game has all of the basic ingredients that compose an amazing narrative coupled with gripping combat the likes of which has brought us game series such as Dishonored and Bioshock. Unfortunately that's about where it stops, as everything in the game just feels "off." Though the attack patterns and designs of the enemies are very unique, the way the combat feels is very lack luster and unsatisfying. Platforming and traversing the world is very clunky, especially when on ledges and swimming through the clear gel. The main character is also weirdly agitated with not a lot of discernible reason or established prejudices to inform the player as to why he treats certain characters the way that he does. The main character's dialogue is also just a bit cringey at times and feels like he belongs in Cyberpunk 2077 rather than his own game.

There is certainly value here and some of the issues I faced at launch have been patched, but you'd be a fool to buy this game at full price.

A great PC port for a classic game that has changed the lives of so many people including myself in ways I could never anticipate.

Wonderful gameplay and a story that have both aged quite well. The PC port isn't the best, but this is definitely worth picking up during a steam sale.

This game is a love letter to the FromSoft game design disguised as a twisted children's tale. Tight and satisfying combat, heartfelt voice acting, beautiful yet easy to run graphics, and an interesting lying mechanic all make this game stand out from a typical "soulslike." The game does hold your hand when it comes to explaining mechanics and treats the experience as if this isn't your first rodeo in the genre. It took me roughly 30 hours for a full playthrough and I was able to get most achievements and upgrades within that time without having to do a lot of backtracking. The game is well paced, and has plenty of little secret nuggets hidden throughout the world for you to find.

This is pure video game goodness with endless opportunities. Every now and then there is a game that comes along, even in early access, and you can just tell it's going to be something special. Even when I first tried the game in early 2022 I knew this game is one of those games. From the fact there is still so much more official content yet to be added to the game (not to mention DLCs) in the future, to the inevitable swarm of mods/custom campaigns that will create communities, get old friend groups together, and forge new passions/skillsets. I only wait to see just how far it all goes.

The best thing about this game is it's tight controls and simple yet well executed mechanics, sometimes even done better than certain similar AAA titles in the same genre. This game being free to play doesn't hinder the experience like many other online multiplayer games and there always seems to be free cosmetics/characters being given out from sources like events and Twitch Prime.

The worst thing about this game is it's lack of charm, specifically in it's character designs. I find characters from this game are very generic looking (discounting the tie-ins from other game franchises of course) and the art style of the level's foreground elements look like it's made for a game published on Kongregate. The very detailed backgrounds and a solid soundtrack make up for this if art style is a major selling point for you.

With that being said, the game can be run by practically every PC out there and takes mere seconds to download. This is a good start if you're looking for a game that all of your friends can play together regardless of PC specs.

The only problem with this game is I want more of it. This game is an absolute masterpiece in it's ability to be so simple yet so stressful.
