Baldur's Gate 3 is the perfect storm of an AAA game! It has incredible visual effects, top notch story and dialogue writing, gripping social and turn-based battle mechanics in the D20 dice system, and a vast variety of companions and possible quest outcomes! I don't think we'll see another AAA game with this much love and polish for many years, if not a decade.

BG3 captures the D&D Tabletop experience in a way I've not felt since Neverwinter Nights 1&2 and is a great entry point for those new D&D curious who were fans of the D&D Honor Among Thieves movie (as it is set in the same campaign setting)!

Larian Studios improved upon so many aspects of Divinity Original Sin 2 and truly deserves high praise for this final product. They delivered all in one package (rather than so many individual DLC packs that many modern gamers have come to expect).

I would recommend this game to almost anyone --- except for those that really prefer fast-paced combat (this is a turn-based cRPG) and quick area transitions or prefer first-person perspective. I know I'll be continuing to play it for many playthroughs as people discover hidden dialogue options and new details!

Edit: I'm just now into Act 2 more than a year later! Larian has gone above and beyond with content updates and patches, and that's why I'm nominating it for the Labor of Love on the 2024 Steam Awards!
