One of the best RPGs I've ever played. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. And that's not even counting the story, which pushed it above and beyond to the top of my list.

Looking back on this game, I still love it. And I don't understand the folks that hate the way the combat works here. Seems pretty standard for most of the successful RPGs of it's style and people enjoy those plenty. Perhaps these are people who always want something new and different or they're not content? I don't know.

One valid criticism I've seen is the fact that you spend the whole game advancing and developing your two character's combat skills etc, only to have it all end rather abruptly with the final chapter. This is really only a bad thing, in that I want more. I would love for this to get a sequel or a followup of some sort. Given how poorly the story was handled for the HBO TV show, I do have misgivings about future handling of the setting, but I remain hopeful that good things can be done with it.

This game does an excellent job of conveying the setting of Westeros, the social and political machinations that shape and form the lives of it's characters. The writing for the story and the presentation here are several magnitudes better than how things were done with the TV show, this game's story is easily on par with the books themselves, which is a rare enough thing now days.

If you're a fan of RPG's in general, and enjoy game play similar to what you see in Dragon Age etc, this one is worth the try, especially if you can get it on sale. Steam sales are awesome, so I do think it's worth holding out for one. For $20, I don't expect more than what this game has to offer. There are many games being released today for three times that price, with less than half the development values or work put into story, setting and concept.

All that said, it's games like this, which I KNOW are great games, that still have Mixed reviews, that make me take chances on games that have Mixed reviews.
